A fifth grade pupil in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to carry out a mass shooting, authorities stated.
In a press release Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace said it had realized earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" despatched by a pupil at an elementary faculty.
It mentioned its native school threat enforcement crew was instantly notified and began investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's workplace stated.
In video shared by authorities, the boy might be seen being led into a police car.
“This pupil’s behavior is sickening, especially after the latest tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in an announcement, noting that the menace came just days after the deadly school taking pictures at Robb Elementary College left 19 college students and two teachers useless.
“Right now just isn't the time to act like somewhat delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he said. “This baby made a pretend threat, and now he’s experiencing real penalties.”
