Speaking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler mentioned, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going forward until I really feel better in regards to the direction of our nation."

I wish that I could have demonstrated what I realized from my dad, that if you're dissatisfied together with your country, you let it's known by means of protest. The house of the brave ought to encourage this."
