Mother or father with concealed weapon accidentally shoots self while at Arlington ISD school, police say

ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police stated Duff Elementary School was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a parent with a concealed weapon had his gun accidentally go off, hitting the mum or dad in the leg.

The varsity had early launch and college students have been launched on the planned time of 12:10 p.m.

In keeping with police, the mother or father, identified as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and accidentally shot himself. His injury was not severe.

The school district said White was contained in the constructing, close to the lobby space, and not within the hallway close to students when the gun went off.

Police and school officials mentioned there was no risk made and the father or mother didn't have "malicious intent."

No students or staff have been injured. The guardian was taken to an area hospital after being shot within the leg. 

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones stated after White was launched from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in prohibited locations and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.

Arlington mother and father stated their minds instantly considered the worst after they had been notified.

Rasheed said Thursday was the commencement day for sixth grade college students at Duff Elementary.

Whereas driving her son to high school in the morning, she had a chat with him about Uvalde and what to do if something ever happened at his faculty.

"If one thing occurred, you’ve bought to run anywhere that’s safe and hide," she instructed her child.

"They wish to speak about it, they wish to campaign on it, they want to fundraiser on it, however they don’t want to actually go any laws and do something," he added.
