Guardian with concealed weapon unintentionally shoots self while at Arlington ISD faculty, police say

Arlington police said Duff Elementary College was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a parent with a concealed weapon had his gun accidentally go off, hitting the guardian in the leg.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police mentioned Duff Elementary Faculty was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a mother or father with a concealed weapon had his gun by accident go off, hitting the parent in the leg.

The varsity had early release and students have been released at the planned time of 12:10 p.m.

In response to police, the guardian, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by chance shot himself. His injury was not critical.

The varsity district mentioned White was contained in the constructing, near the foyer space, and never within the hallway near students when the gun went off.

Police and faculty officials said there was no menace made and the parent did not have "malicious intent."

No college students or employees have been injured. The dad or mum was taken to an area hospital after being shot in the leg. 

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones mentioned after White was released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in prohibited locations and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.

Within the two days since the Uvalde mass school shooting, there have been five circumstances in North Texas associated to guns brought to varsities or threats made.

Arlington mother and father stated their minds immediately thought of the worst once they had been notified.

Rasheed said Thursday was the graduation day for 6th grade students at Duff Elementary.

Whereas driving her son to high school within the morning, she had a talk with him about Uvalde and what to do if something ever happened at his faculty.

"If something occurred, you’ve obtained to run wherever that’s safe and conceal," she told her baby.
