Tesla remembers 130K vehicles; contact screens can go clean

Tesla is recalling about 130,000 autos across its U.S. mannequin lineup because their touch screens can overheat and go clean.

The remembers covers certain Model S sedan and Model X SUVs from 2021 and 2022, in addition to Mannequin 3 automobiles and Model Y SUVs from 2022.

Documents posted Tuesday by the National Highway Visitors Security Administration say that during the fast-charging process, the central processing computers may not cool sufficiently. That may cause the pc to lag or restart, making the middle display run slowly or appear clean.

Without the middle display screen, the vehicles can lose rearview camera displays, settings that management windshield defrosters and indicators that say whether the automobiles are in drive, impartial and reverse. That may increase the risk of a crash.

Tesla is fixing the issue with online software updates that will improve temperature management for the computer. Updates started on May 3.

Tesla says that it found the problem in routine endurance testing. The corporate has no studies of crashes or injuries, however it acquired 59 associated guarantee claims from January to early May.

Tesla has had a spate of security problems this year, including a number of investigations opened by NHTSA, the nation's street safety watchdog. The recall is the 11th for the electrical automobile firm since Jan. 27. Most have been fastened with software updates.
