The varsity had early release and college students have been released at the planned time of 12:10 p.m.
In accordance with police, the mum or dad, identified as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by chance shot himself. His injury was not serious.
The college district stated White was contained in the constructing, close to the foyer area, and not within the hallway close to students when the gun went off.
Police and faculty officials mentioned there was no threat made and the mother or father didn't have "malicious intent."

No students or workers had been injured. The dad or mum was taken to an space hospital after being shot in the leg.
Arlington Police Chief Al Jones mentioned after White was released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in prohibited locations and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.

Arlington parents stated their minds immediately considered the worst after they were notified.

"After I received the textual content message, I used to be like, ‘Oh my God, one thing goes to happen.’ I used to be shocked," guardian Karima Rasheed stated.

Mitchell lives across the road from Duff Elementary. His daughters go to a different Arlington college.
"I’m terrified, absolutely terrified. I’ve bought twin six-year-olds that go to a different Arlington college and each time I hear there's a lockdown or a faculty capturing, my heart jumps into my throat," he mentioned.
Rasheed stated Thursday was the commencement day for sixth grade students at Duff Elementary.
While driving her son to high school in the morning, she had a talk with him about Uvalde and what to do if something ever occurred at his school.
"If one thing occurred, you’ve obtained to run anyplace that’s safe and conceal," she informed her baby.
While some say the incident in Uvalde is too contemporary to speak politics, Mitchell mentioned one thing must be accomplished now.
"They need to discuss it, they want to marketing campaign on it, they want to fundraiser on it, but they don’t need to really go any legal guidelines and do anything," he added.
