Talking in the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead until I really feel better concerning the route of our country."

In a blog post, Kapler questioned whether or not the nation's leadership is committed to representing its folks's greatest interests and whether or not the United States is really "the land of the free and the home of the brave."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mom in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her youngsters. They blocked parents making an attempt to prepare to cost in to stop the shooter, including a father who discovered his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians decide that the lobbyist and gun industries are extra necessary than our kids's freedom to go to school with no need bulletproof backpacks and active shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he known as "the shortage of supply of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."

"I am not okay with the state of this country. I want I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I might have demonstrated what I realized from my dad, that if you're dissatisfied with your nation, you let it's known through protest. The house of the courageous ought to encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger motion against gun violence in the USA.

Kerr refused to speak about basketball forward of Game 4 of the Warriors' series against the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute elevating his voice as he railed against gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's shooting.

"Within the final 10 days, we've had aged Black people killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we have kids murdered in school," Kerr advised reporters at the beginning of the press convention.

"When are we going to do one thing? I'm tired. I'm so uninterested in getting up right here and providing condolences to the devastated households which are on the market ... I'm tired of the moments of silence. Sufficient."
