A fifth grade pupil in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to carry out a mass shooting, authorities stated.

In a press release Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace said it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening text message" despatched by a student at an elementary college.

It said its native college threat enforcement group was immediately notified and started investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass taking pictures," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy might be seen being led right into a police automobile.

“This pupil’s habits is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement, noting that the threat came simply days after the deadly college taking pictures at Robb Elementary Faculty left 19 college students and two lecturers dead.

“Proper now isn't the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he said. “This baby made a fake risk, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”

Marceno stated his group “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to analyze the incident.
