A California district lawyer declined to file costs Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police experiences and movies of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no expenses be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its assessment of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery in opposition to another passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in an announcement.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to try to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson stated the particular person was harassing Tyson. The video didn't show what occurred before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file charges by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement agencies "for their careful, diligent, and professional work."
