Mike Tyson will not face fees in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district legal professional says

A California district lawyer declined to file fees Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police experiences and movies of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no charges be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Office concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery towards another passenger on an airplane while ready on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe said in an announcement.

"Our resolution is that we are going to not file any fees in opposition to Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the sufferer leading as much as the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, as well as the requests of each the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed in this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, showing to attempt to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the particular person was harassing Tyson. The video did not show what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file prices by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement companies "for their careful, diligent, and professional work."
