Mike Tyson will not face charges in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district lawyer says

A California district lawyer declined to file charges Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police stories and videos of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no fees be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its review of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against one other passenger on an airplane while waiting at the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in a statement.

"Our resolution is that we'll not file any expenses towards Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the sufferer main as much as the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of both the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no costs be filed in this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the particular person was harassing Tyson. The video did not show what occurred earlier than the altercation.
