Florida man gets life in prison for traveling to Vietnam to sexually abuse minors – WFTV

TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida man has been sentenced to life in jail for traveling to Vietnam to sexually abuse minors he met online, in response to officials.

The U.S. Department of Justice says Christopher Edwin Day, 52, traveled two totally different times in 2015 and 2016 to Vietnam from Florida to have sexual encounters with minor Vietnamese boys. Court docket data say he flew back and forth disguising himself as an English trainer.

A number of the boys, in keeping with the DOJ, had been lured with promises of money and items. Others launched him as their English trainer.

The Tampa Bay News says Homeland Safety investigated the case in Tampa and in Ho Chi Minh City. It was part of Challenge Safe Childhood, which was an effort to find baby sex abuse began in 2006 by the DOJ.

“The legal guidelines of the US will still catch as much as baby predators who even travel to overseas countries to sexually abuse minor children. Thanks to HSI’s worldwide investigative authorities and robust partnerships, both at HSI Tampa and HSI Ho Chi Minh Metropolis, Vietnam, this sexual predator was stopped from harming more youngsters and his sufferer could have the justice they deserve,” said HSI Tampa Assistant Special Agent in Cost John Dumas, based on a news launch from stated HSI Tampa Assistant Special Agent in Cost John Dumas.

Day pleaded guilty to two counts of journey with intent to interact in illicit sexual conduct and two counts of tried coercion and enticement of a minor into illegal sexual activity, in keeping with the DOJ. Day has been sentenced to life in prison.
